individuals in service professions (eg, military, firefighters, law enforcement, and emergency responders) who typically have significant physical fitness and performance requirements associated with their work.

As a First Responder, I am someone who is drawn to run towards chaos and danger while many others run away from it.

I show up and put in the work, day after day, often without thanks or appreciation.

I do this because I know that I need to be prepared for EVERY situation I come across.

The lives of my community, my team, and often myself can be put in danger if I become complacent and unprepared.

Yet I am still human.

While I know I need to be prepared for the job, I also have my own selfish pursuits.

As a former athlete, I love to compete. Be it in an Ultra-marathon, an Obstacle Course Race, Rec Hockey League, Golf, Functional Fitness Competition, and more.

I am always striving to move better and enhance my mobility.

But I don't want to look like a potato either. I want to build muscle and look good while doing it.

At the end of the day, I want to look good, feel good and perform well at doing the things I love.

And I want to pursue this selfish level of fitness without sacrificing my ability to do my job.

And as a First Responder,  perhaps like yourself, I also experience a unique set of obstacles standing in my way.

Shift work, sleepless nights, high stress.

Over the years, I couldn't find a single program that understood my dilemma. Yes, I want to pursue performance in the things I love, but I ALSO need to meet and exceed the demands of my job.

All of this without burning myself out or injuring myself in the process.

Selfishly, I wanted to train in a way that helped me improve in the ways that mattered to me - while also ensuring I am an asset in the field and on scene.

And after working with hundreds of clients over the years: Police Officers, Firefighters, Paramedics, Military Personnel, and more - I realized that I wasn't alone in this feeling.

And this is why I created HEROIC Athletics and The Tactical Athlete Membership.

To empower First Responders & Tactical Professionals with a perfect blend of Goal-Orientated Training, without sacrificing on-the-job performance.

Program options to pursue your own personal performance goals, while staying balanced in key areas of Tactical Athleticism: Mobility, Strength, Power & Conditioning.

As both an Individual AND as a First Responder

Your training program needs to follow 3 basic principles: 

Principle # 1: It needs to help you progress towards your goals

Principle # 2: It needs to be a style and structure that is FUN for you

Principle # 3: It needs to prepare you to not just meet, but exceed the demands of your job

Rest assured that, regardless of the program track you decide to follow, ALL programs are written with careful thought about programming for a First Responder. So you can rest assured that not only are you setting yourself up to CRUSH your own goals, but you are keeping yourself capable and prepared to be at your best when it matters most on the job.

All program options below are built around sound principles of training, which aim to develop a balanced Tactical Professional in key areas: Mobility, Strength & baseline Aereobic Capacity (or Endurance). 

Beyond that, each program will bias development in a particular area (ie - building muscle on BUILT or building endurance on ENDURO) without sacrificing key elements that you NEED as a First Responder. 

This means that you can build your engine without losing much strength, or you can build muscle without losing much mobility, or you can increase your athleticism without burning yourself out for shift.

If your goal is to pack on lean muscle and get jacked, this training track is for you. Build strength and muscle while improving your mobility at the same time.

WORKOUT STYLE: 
Functional Bodybuilding
SESSION DURATION: ~60 minutes
SESSIONS PER WEEK: 6 Training Days
EQUIPMENT NEEDED:  Barbells, Bumper Plates, Dumbbells, Kettlebells, Bands, Squat Rack, Bench, Pull Up Bar, Rings/TRX, Medicine Ball

TRAINING GOAL: Get Jacked and Lean

ENDURO

If your definition of fitness is to be able to run for miles while maintaining the ability and strength to do everything else in life, this program track is for you.

IDEAL FOR: Obstacle Course Racers, Runners (Trail & Road)
WORKOUT STYLE:
 Mixed Modality/Functional Fitness with an emphasis on cardio
SESSION DURATION: ~60 minutes
SESSIONS PER WEEK: 5 Training + 1 Active Recovery/Mobility Day
EQUIPMENT NEEDED:   Barbells, Bumper Plates, Dumbbells, Kettlebells, Bands, Squat Rack, Bench, Pull Up Bar, Rings/TRX, Medicine Ball

TRAINING GOAL: Improve Endurance, Mitigate Injury Risk with Runner/OCR-Focused Strengthening

COMP

For those current or former competitive Functional Fitness enthusiasts (ie - competing in CrossFit® competitions), then this program is likely where you want to be. If you are well versed in the gym and like to challenge yourself with building proficiency in all areas of athleticism, then COMP is for you. 

IDEAL FOR: CrossFit® Competitors, Performance Minded Individuals
WORKOUT STYLE:
 Mixed Modality, Functional Fitness
SESSION DURATION: ~75-90 minutes
SESSIONS PER WEEK: 5 Training Days + 1 Active Recovery/Mobility Day
EQUIPMENT NEEDED: Barbells, Bumper Plates, Dumbbells, Kettlebells, Bands, Squat Rack, Bench, Pull Up Bar, Rings/TRX, Medicine Ball

DENSITY

Let's face it, you are tight on time. and can only squeeze out 2-3 sessions per week (maybe 4-5 every 3 months if you're lucky) but you still want to be considered a badass. If you want high quality training on a time-budget, this program is for you to follow.

IDEAL FOR: Busy Individuals with lot's of responsibilities

SESSIONS PER WEEK: 2 Mandatory, 3 Optional

PRIMAL

If there is one thing the year 2020 has taught us, is that there are times we have to adapt. If you want to train like an athlete with limited equipment in your living room or on the road, this program track is for you.

IDEAL FOR: Individuals with Limited Equipment Available
WORKOUT STYLE: 
Mixed Modality/Functional Fitness
SESSION DURATION: ~60 minutes
SESSIONS PER WEEK: 5 Training Days + 1 Active Recovery Day
EQUIPMENT NEEDED: Dumbbels or Kettlebells, TRX or Rings, Bands

FIRE

Firefighters often require a specific set of skills and abilities to ensure success on scene. The FIRE training track is meant to assist current and prospective firefighters build the strength and endurance necessary to be an asset on the job.

IDEAL FOR: Current and prospective Firefighters looking to improve their overall fitness & performance 
WORKOUT STYLE:
 Mixed Modality, Functional Fitness
SESSION DURATION: ~60 minutes
SESSIONS PER WEEK: 5 Training Days + 1 Active Recovery/Mobility Day

LEO

The expectation for an LEO is to be able to react, accurately, in a fast and precise way. The LEO training track is built to help LEO's develop explosive speed, mitigate common injury risk - and let's face it, pack on some flesh to your meat suit to enhance your intimidation factor. If you are an LEO and don't want to be caught flat-footed, then you should be on the LEO track. 

IDEAL FOR: Current and prospective Law Enforcement Officers looking to improve their overall fitness & performance 
WORKOUT STYLE:
 Mixed Modality, Functional Fitness
SESSION DURATION: ~60 minutes
SESSIONS PER WEEK: 5 Training Days + 1 Active Recovery/Mobility Day
