BRANDON ROBB

My name is Brandon, and come from a very diverse background when it comes to fitness.

I have always been active, and loved playing every sport I could growing up, from Basketball to Badminton to Track and Field. However it was in both Hockey and Golf that I excelled the most.

In High School I was a high level ice Hockey Player, and recruited to live away from my family and play Hockey at a very athletic driven high school in Alberta. I was one of the captains of the team, 4th in league scoring and was able to live the highlight of winning the league championship in my senior year of high school.

I then found competitive Golf both during and after high school, where I played in many tournaments and won a handful of small local tournaments. In my early twenties I had aspirations to become a professional golfer, and on two separate occasions missed getting my pro card by two shots both times. After consulting friends and family at the time, I made the decision to get a "real job" which ultimately lead me to becoming a Strength and Conditioning Coach and Personal Trainer.

As a Personal Trainer, I worked with many individuals early on, but found my stride in working with First Responders, as I connected well with these individuals and was able to understand the demands of their jobs and lives. It was also during this time that I continued to live out my athletic pursuits, this time in CrossFit®, where I spent my mid twenties competing on many different stages on both a local and even national level. I also spent a number of years with my wife competing in Obstacle Course Racing, where I regularly placed in the top 10 in many races I partook in.

It was in my late twenties that I was plagued with injuries to both my shoulder and knee that I was able to build the groundwork on what is now HEROIC.

Personally, I found extreme benefit in combining rehabilitation exercises, bodybuilding principles and athletic focused conditioning to develop the kind of athleticism I now enjoy.

My goal, and the goal of many of my clients, is to develop the fitness and athleticism that allows for optimal performance in the areas that matter most to them. I do this through holistic training programs and coaching to help. I love being able to wake up ready to meet any challenge or opportunity that falls on my lap. Whether that is mountain biking, golfing, performing high on a career fitness test - personally I take the approach to being able to be fit enough to not only meet standards, but to be competitive in any environment, and to do so pain free.

TYLER TAIT

My name is Tyler, and I come from an in-depth academic and diverse sporting background in the field of fitness.

Growing up, I participated in almost every sport available to my small town up bringing. From Speed skating, badminton, indoor and outdoor soccer, and almost anything you could imagine, I have probably tried it. Once I reached high school, I focused my attention on Volleyball and Basketball. After High School, I decided to pursue more academic challenges and left competitive sport, as an athlete.

My academic journey began at Red Deer College, and I continued my competitive pursuits with an opportunity to assistant coach with the Red Deer College Queens Basketball team, after two years with the program I moved to Edmonton to attend the University of Alberta to complete his Bachelor of Physical Education where I had the opportunity to assistant coach with the University of Alberta Pandas Basketball team and the Concordia University College of Alberta Women’s Basketball team. During these years I spent time working with and training youth basketball players as well as collegiate athletes. While completing my degree and Master’s of Science, I developed a passion for helping people achieve their health and fitness goals and has since spent over 10 years studying and working in the Sport and Fitness field.

During my time in Academia, I studied sport and sport performance, spending a lot of my time working with athletes and coaches to implement injury prevention training programs to reduce injuries and aide in improving performance.

Over the years I have participated in sport specific strength and conditioning programs, I have tried body building programs, powerlifting programs, weightlifting, and different functional fitness programming. Having a competitive personality, I currently, train and compete in Functional Fitness competitions, while pursuing various outdoor activities like hiking, mountain biking, and cross-country skiing.

I have worked with a variety of clientele with differing needs and goals. I like to focus on utilizing fundamental and functional exercises in order to improve health, fitness, and physical performance. Sometimes the best methods seem the simplest!
